Much has been written about the artist Tvardovsky, but little can compare to the sheer volume and mesmerising quality of the Ukrainian's production work. From the recent chart-topping Stereo Paradise compilation for 99percentrecordings, so long in the making, to the enigmatic "So Sadly" EP for Per-vurt and the recent remix EP of last year's Proton summer smash, "Infinite" with Dousk and Yamil Colucci taking up the reins, Svatoslav Tvardovsky's 2013 has continued precisely where 2012 left off. As such, it is no surprise to see yet another glittering Proton Music offering from the Ukrainian maestro, this time coalescing in the "Hope/Fate" EP that provide a thematic mirror from which the one, very much, parallels the other. Supported by the great and good of the DJ community in the form of Cid Inc, Luis Junior, and Hernan Cattaneo, Tvardovsky's work has found itself allied to the finest EDM imprints including Moonbeam, Lowbit and trance goliath, Armada (the latter saw his track "Dream" appearing on Markus Schulz's "Global DJ Broadcast"). Further highlighting, his diverse range of talents, the beautiful "Stories from the Future" has recently appeared on the fifth volume of Solee's "Re:cognition" on the German's own techno inspired, Parquet imprint. Tvardovsky himself is no stranger to the world of label ownership management with his Stereo Paradise label responsible for advancing the careers of many Eastern European artists, not least through his "Secret Reality" compilation series and event nights. The Stereo Paradise label has also played host to Svatoslav's intimate "Borderless LP", a kaleidoscopic array of downtempo electronica and deep house jewels. Opening track, "Hope" is a beautifully considered melodic piece, instantly recognisable from its trademark Tvardovsky qualities. A strong, driving beat, crisp percussion and cavernous bass line provide a rhythmic foundation upon which a sublimely filtered and crystalline arpeggio riff effortlessly repeats across the track whole. Further melodic riffs, coated in reverbs and delays serve only to heighten a sense of hope and expectation. Partner track, "Fate" is very much echoed by the themes of its predecessor. The same crystalline structured arpeggio takes centre stage before pulsing pads and a stronger more dominant bass line, firmly rooted in the melodic premise of its "Fate" counterpart, force their way to the foreground. A faster, trademark arpeggio line and rapid-fire hi-hats bring a greater sense or urgency to proceedings as simple piano chords play their part in providing a real dance floor energy and vivacity to the track. This is Tvardovsky at his finest. That "Fate" has graced the EDM community with Tvardovsky is providence, the infinite "Hope", a sparkling continuance.
